Set DV
The SET(DV) application is for individuals who are victims of domestic violence and seeking indefinite leave to remain (ILR) in the UK. This route is available to those who came to the UK on a partner visa and are now seeking to settle permanently due to domestic abuse.
Eligibility:
- Visa type: You must have entered the UK on a partner visa.
- Domestic violence: You must have experienced domestic violence from your partner and have separated from them because of it.
- Suitability criteria: You must meet the standard rules for UK settlement, meaning you don't pose a security threat and don't have unspent convictions.
Application Process:
- Online application: You'll need to complete the online application form SET(DV).
- Supporting documents: You'll need to provide evidence of your partner visa, the breakdown of your relationship due to domestic violence, and meet the standard requirements for UK settlement, says GOV.UK.
- Decision: The Home Office will review your application and provide a decision, which typically takes around 6 months, according to GOV.UK.
Key Considerations:
- Evidence of domestic violence: It's crucial to provide strong evidence to support your claim, including police reports, medical records, or witness statements.
- Financial support: If you are unable to support yourself during the application process, you may be eligible for financial support under the DDV concession.
- DDV concession: This concession provides a short period of independent immigration status and financial support to certain victims of domestic abuse
